Celebrating the CO-OP Program

We’re celebrating the success of our co-op program that supports students with special needs as they gain real-world work experience and increasing independence. Thanks to dedicated staff, supportive local businesses, and the hard work of students like Jesse and Michael MacKinnon, the program is becoming a strong pathway to confidence, inclusion, and future employment.

We pleased to present the winning artwork for the 2025 DSB1 Holiday Card Contest!

Created by a student attending R. Ross Beattie Public School, this design will proudly be featured on the cover of our 2025 DSB1 holiday card and widely distributed across our communities during the month of December and beyond.

Turtle Concepts: Inspiring Confidence and Empowering Students

Students from across DSB1 recently gathered at Roland Michener Secondary School to take part in the inspiring teachings of Turtle Concepts. Over two energetic and engaging days, this Indigenous-based program encouraged students to reflect on their personal journeys, understand the influences shaping their choices, and step forward with confidence.

Building Inclusive Communities

To strengthen our inclusive and supportive school community, Englehart Public School created a playful photo-matching activity. Students get to guess which childhood pictures belong to the adults they see every day. It’s a fun way for everyone to connect and feel included.
