The TDSS SimLab was nominated for the award by Dr. Stacy Desilets and the South Temiskaming Local Education Group (STLEG) for its’ exceptional regional collaboration with healthcare professionals and learning opportunities for secondary students.

This prestigious national award recognizes an organization that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to innovate, advocate and advance simulation for education, patient safety and/or/ quality improvement. Thomas McLean received the award at the Simulation Canada ceremony held in Ottawa on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
Each year, the TDSS SimLab provides educational experiences for up to 40 physicians and medical learners, 50 primary care paramedics, 60 high school students, 40 registered nurses and numerous other allied health professionals. The SimLab features a trauma room, acute care beds, obstetrical suite, primary care clinic, nursing station, ambulance, and classroom space. Each year, new medical and educational equipment is ordered to ensure the SimLab is cutting edge and constantly enhancing learning opportunities for students.
