Elementary Curriculum

 

District School Board Ontario North East recognizes that students need to be able to apply what they have learned in real life situations. As a result there is a continued focus on providing learning opportunities that allow students to use their knowledge and skills in a connected manner. The Curriculum Department also supports schools in the selection of curriculum resources, instructional strategics, assessment and evaluation strategies, staff training and leadership development.​

 

The Ministry of Education has developed subject specific elementary curriculum expectations for grades 1 to 8, as well as an experience-based kindergarten program. Each document provides a grade-specific framework of overall learning expectations and specific learning expectations. Students are required to demonstrate specific knowledge, understanding and skills in each subject.
